GeoWharton
The Wharton
School GIS Lab and The Wharton GeoSpatial Initiative
Spatial
technologies are currently being deployed as the basis of new
business applications ranging from satellite surveillance for
e-logistics to locationally based services and spatially informed
supply chains. The combination of geographical information
systems (GIS) software and data is being used by businesses for
making spatially informed decisions in all fields of business
including real estate and banking. While location and spatially
informed decisions have historically been utilized in business
operations, the accelerating pace of technology makes the study of
this new field increasingly important
GeoWharton advances research
using GIS technology through its development and dissemination of
geospatial knowledge, as well as through partnerships with the
private sector, linking academic researchers with industry leaders
and technology end-users to further the development of innovative
uses for this leading edge technology.
